The Road Network Planning for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021:
- Route: The Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot expressway has a length of approximately 130 km.
- Alignment: Starting point at Van Phong Port, Khanh Hoa; ending point at the North-South Expressway (West), Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak.
- Planned scale: 4 lanes.
- Investment timeline: Before 2030.
Construction Investment: Component Project 1 under the Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project (Phase 1), section Km0+000 – Km32+000 passing through Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province.
Connectivity: Connects vital traffic axes: National Highway 1 (QL1), National Highway 26B (QL26B), Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway (CT.01), and National Highway 26 (QL26), creating a linkage axis from the South Van Phong Port area to the Central Highlands.
Benefits (derived from expressway characteristics & connection location):
Contribute to socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security for the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions.
Reduce travel time and transport costs between Khanh Hoa and the Central Highlands.
Increase cargo circulation capacity for the South Van Phong Port area.
Project Scale & Technical Standards
- Grade-100 Expressway, Design speed ($V_{des}$) = 100 km/h, Grade I road transport project.
- Route length: Approximately 31.5 km, passing through 07 communes and 01 ward of Ninh Hoa Town.
- Final stage: 4 lanes, Roadbed width ($B_{bed}$) = 24.75 m; Phased investment stage: 4 lanes, $B_{bed}$ = 17.0 m; specifically, the section Km0 – Km8+500 is fully invested/completed in Phase 1.
Key Interchanges
- Start-point interchange with National Highway 1 (NH1) & NH26B: Roundabout type.
- Interchange with Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway (CT.01): Full cloverleaf type.
- Interchange with NH26: Diamond type (Expressway overpasses NH26); Phase 1 comprises the construction of a through-traffic flyover with capital provision to complete the interchange before 2026.
Route Structures (Major Scale)
- 21 bridges: 18 bridges on the expressway alignment, 2 overpasses, and 1 bridge on the frontage road; including several major bridges such as Song Lop, Song Cai, Hon Lai, Km26, Km29, Km30 utilizing Prestressed Reinforced Concrete (PRC) Super-T girders.
- 29 frontage road sections with a total length of ~17.9 km; 15 residential underpasses; 08 retaining wall sections of various types.
- Large-scale drainage system: 175 cross culverts (pipe & box culverts), numerous longitudinal ditches, berm ditches, interceptor ditches, and reinstatement of 11 irrigation canal locations.
Safety & Environmental Infrastructure
Protective fencing, guardrails, and noise barriers at densely populated sections (Km0+000 – Km1+200, Km3+800 – Km4+000) in accordance with the approved EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment).
ITS infrastructure provision (cable manholes, cable conduits, pole foundations).
Lighting at main interchanges using 100–220W LED lights, arranged according to specific roadbed widths.
